On Thursday, May 27, 2021, an Anglophone student of Government Bilingual High School Kekem, Ismael Tefon, 18 years of age, was reported to have lost his life in Kekem, in the West region. This was as a result of trying to swim across the river with his friends to pluck mangoes on a mango tree.
According to corroborating sources, the teenager went out on adventure with some of his friends on that Thursday, May 27. Together with his friends, they decided to go pick mangoes precisely at a place called Kombe.
