The newly elected North West Regional Delegate of the Chamber of Commerce has promised to ensure a revamp of the economy of the crisis-hit region and increase membership into the body in his first term in office.
Edison Fru Ndi made the promise shortly after his election. The Bamenda-based business tycoon promised to sensitise a good number of business persons to see the need to belong to the body and ensure its growth.
“Bring businesses to understand the mission of the Chamber of Commerce and exploit the opportunities,” Edison Fru Ndi said, adding that “the final result will be the growth of the economy (Cameroon).”
“…will ensure the number of business could jump… if business persons are aware of the benefits they could reap from belonging to the Chamber of Commerce they will certainly belong,”he said, while promising to improve the current situation in his tenure of office.
While explaining his vision for the chamber to his colleagues, Edison Fru Ndi disclosed he and his team intend to cover only one mandate. “We have a gentleman agreement to serve one mandate. So that we (members) all can have the opportunity to serve and to lead,” Edison revealed.
Edison Fru Ndi’s leadership trappings are not new to many in the region. His skills contributed to elevating him in several instances among his peers. This according to observers contributed to his election as President of the North West Contractors’ Syndicate, NOWECOSY. Others added that the contractor is noted for carefully executing his jobs unlike some notorious contractors noted for abandoning contracts.
His philanthropic actions since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has been lauded by many North West inhabitants. His actions according to many exemplifies President Biya’s call for solidarity in the phase of difficulties.
Edison donated several anti-COVID-19-kits comprising thermos-flashes and face masks to several health facilities and schools. He remembered for digging borehole to cut down on water-borne diseases, lit some streets in Bamenda to help fight insecurity in his dream of seeing a ‘new Bamenda’ amidst all odds.
He has assisted and empowered hundreds of youths through employment in his businesses and at his gravel production plant where he has invested FCFA 2 billion with 250 tons of gravel produced per hour.
The CEO of Dreamland Holdings is a diehard and loyal militant of the ruling Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM party. His actions has inscribed his name among the development stakeholders of the region from the early 1990s.
This was when he opened the city’s first high-class restaurant named Dreamland with the slogan “Putting your money where your mouth is”. At a time the slogan was becoming the catch phrase in town, Edison, opened the Dreamland Cabaret.
This greatly changed night life in Bamenda and in 2010, the cabaret raked reviews as the best cabaret in the CEMAC region. He rebranded entertainment in Bamenda and now runs the cozy Dreamland Snack Bar.
